How Zingage Tracks Caregiver Cancellations (Call-Outs) and Open Shifts

Last updated: August 7, 2025

If you use WellSky to manage caregiver schedules and cancellations, it's important to understand how Zingage tracks those events—especially when using goals like Perfect Attendance.

This article explains how call-outs and Open Shifts are processed in Zingage, and how to ensure your setup supports accurate tracking.

How Zingage Receives Canceled Shifts

When a caregiver calls out of a shift in WellSky, that shift can still be tracked by Zingage—as long as it's handled in one of the following ways:

Scenario

Will Zingage Track It?

Notes

Shift is canceled by caregiver, and the caregiver remains assigned

Yes

Call-out will be tracked and tied to the caregiver

Shift is canceled and reassigned to a new caregiver

Yes

The visit will be tracked under the new caregiver, if reassigned within 14 days

Shift is canceled and left unassigned (Open Shift)

No

Zingage will not receive the shift if no caregiver is assigned

Key Takeaway:

Zingage tracks shifts as long as there is a caregiver assigned—whether it's the original caregiver or a replacement.

🧩 Example

Let’s say a caregiver, Sasha Slate, had two canceled shifts:

  • June 24: Marked as "Canceled by caregiver" using Cg Called Out
→ Sasha remains assigned with just a call out → Zingage tracks it

  • June 23: Marked as Open Shift after canceling
→ Sasha was removed as the assignee → Zingage does not track it

🏷 How to Set Up Call-Out Tags in WellSky

Zingage uses activity tags in WellSky to recognize and track caregiver cancellations. However, only the child tag name is used by Zingage—not the full parent tag path.

Correct Tag Format

For example use only the child tag:

  • Cg Called Out

  • Care Pro Call Out

🚫 Avoid Using Parent Tag Names

Tags like Zingage Delinquency: Cg Called Out for example, where Zingage Delinquency is the parent tag, will not be recognized by Zingage and may result in missed tracking.

To prevent this, we recommend:

If you're not sure how your tags are configured, contact the WellSky Support Team!

📌 Summary

  • Keep caregivers assigned to canceled visits if you want Zingage to recognize the call-out.

  • Use child tag names only when marking cancellations in WellSky.

  • Avoid marking shifts as Open unless you do not want them tracked in Zingage.
