Managing Practice Shifts and Referral Rewards in Zingage

Last updated: August 7, 2025

When onboarding new caregivers, some agencies may schedule practice or training shifts. However, to ensure referral rewards trigger properly in Zingage, it’s important to manage these shifts carefully—especially if you use WellSky for scheduling.

In this case, the agency has practice shifts and a referral milestone for the first completed visit. Problem is - is that the practice visit seems to be read as the first visit.

🧠 How Zingage Handles Shift Data

Once a shift syncs from WellSky to Zingage, it cannot be deleted from Zingage, even if it’s later removed from the agency's system. This behavior helps maintain data integrity and compliance across systems.

Recommended Solutions for Managing Practice Shifts

To prevent practice shifts from unintentionally triggering referral rewards, choose one of the following methods:

1. Mark Practice Shifts as Call-Outs in the agency's system

This is the most reliable solution. Before shifts sync to Zingage, you can:

  • Use the tracked call out tag as labeled in Zingage (Company>App Center>Connected Apps>Configure)

  • Mark the shift as a Client Call-Out

This will prevent the shift from being counted toward referral reward goals or performance metrics in Zingage.

2. Adjust the Referral Visit Threshold

If practice shifts are part of your regular onboarding process, you can raise the number of required visits for referral rewards to account for them.

Examples:

  • If most caregivers complete 1 practice shift, set the referral milestone threshold to 2 visits

  • For 2 practice shifts, raise the threshold to 3 visits

This ensures only official working visits trigger rewards.

3. Avoid Recording Practice Shifts Altogether

If practice/training shifts aren't needed for your records, you may choose not to add them in WellSky at all.

Important Note:

Due to HIPAA regulations, Zingage cannot exclude shifts based on client type, training labels, or tags. That’s why practice shifts must be managed using one of the methods above.

Best Practice Recommendation

Most agencies find that marking practice shifts as client call-outs in WellSky before they sync is the simplest and most effective approach. It ensures:

  • Referral rewards remain accurate

  • Caregiver statistics stay clean

  • No manual corrections are needed later
