Managing Anniversary Points for Returning Caregivers
Last updated: February 12, 2026
When a caregiver returns to work after an extended absence, they may receive anniversary points based on their original hire date rather than their actual return date. This can result in them receiving anniversary points unintended.
How Anniversary Points Are Calculated
Zingage awards anniversary points based on the hire date stored in your agency's EMR system. The system cannot automatically detect if a caregiver has left and returned, so it calculates points from the original hire date.
Preventing Incorrect Points for Returning Caregivers
To prevent returning caregivers from receiving inaccurate anniversary points:
Update the hire date in your EMR system to reflect their actual return date
Make this change before the anniversary point calculation occurs
Removing Points After They've Been Awarded
Unfortunately, once a caregiver has claimed their anniversary points, they cannot be removed from their account. This is why it's important to update hire dates in your EMR system proactively for returning caregivers.
Important: Always update hire dates for returning caregivers in your EMR system before anniversary dates to prevent incorrect point awards.
